Review – UNDER ARMOUR’s Gemini 3 Running Shoe
You will be excused to think with beauty you naturally sacrifice brains, but with the new Gemini 3 manufactured by UNDER ARMOUR you will surely be mistaken.
From the moment I looked at the shoe, I loved the design and the look and feel. It is sleek with solid finishing. The heel cup is solid and leaves little room for movement, thats how we like it. I did however have reservations as this was to be my first experience with a UNDER ARMOUR running shoe. I have no idea what the previous model looked and felt like but I was admittedly impressed by the appearance. The question was, does it perform as good as it looks promise?
As soon as I slipped my foot into this neatly finished shoe, it was ment to be. It is almost like the shoe was meant specifically for me. The mid section ties the foot down into the shoe, whilst the strongly neatly cupped heel secures the foot in place. It gives you the feeling of control and security. The front section has enough room for your foot to have the necessary stabilising movements, which naturally happen as you follow through. The follow through result is responsive reactivity, and the overall cushioning gives you smooth run, especially on a long distance run and on the road. On my very first run the Gemini was kind to me, usually with a new shoe you would usually have a bit of skin friction damage until you “grow into your shoe” (blisters). With Gemini there was no such thing, the comfort and cushioning took care of this.
I suffer from Shin Splints and had therefore taken the shoe on a months “probation” before delivering a verdict to see if this shoe made a difference or not. This has always been important to me as a hard run means I have to chuck the shoes in the bin. I found with the cushioning it did indeed make it feel a little bit better, even though my condition will never completely go away, it definitely alleviated it. I also enjoyed the breathable fabric which kept me cool and regulated the overall comfort.
Since trying on the Gemini 3 I realised that UNDER ARMOUR even though fairly new to South Africa in terms of Running Shoe. Has certainly been busy with their design and technology. A lot of thought went into this running shoe and I can recommend trying them for heel strikers as well as forefoot strikers.
