My wedding day was always from the offset going to be an interesting day. Even though I never fantasised about getting married (it was not really on my to do list), I knew that whatever life experiences I have, they need to be epic. Average just won’t do, life is too short and our time is too precious.
As you know life happens whilst you are making other plans. In my case I met a very special man, and 8 years later we have become a happy family dogs, kids the works. As our plans changed and our life became full a wedding was most certainly on the cards. Not just any wedding, my DREAM WEDDING.
BOSJES, located at the foot of the Waaihoek Mountain in the Breede Valley lies this beautiful, unmissable luxury destination.
The Chapel, undoubtably the the centre piece of this very special location and has been featured in countless publications. This very special place was master-pieced by South African born Architect, Coetzee Steyn, based in London.
The structure’s design was inspired by a passage from the Bible, from Psalm 36:7, which reads, “How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” These wings manifest in the roof’s baroque holbol gables (a feature of South African colonial architecture), which form peaks and valleys within the roof itself. The chapel is perfectly framed in between vineyards and a pomegranate orchard,

The wedding venue also has stunning luxury accommodation and the farm house is a must see. We enjoyed the pool and boma-style braai and fire pit with our family and friends the night before which really added to the memories we will cherish forever. The kids play-area (even though we did not have kids at the wedding except mine and my sister’s) is really something special as well. Everything was really perfect from the accommodation to the hospitality. We were so well looked after by the staff and management.
What is a wedding without a dress. Since 2006 one of my best friends, Kobus Dippenaar and myself have been planning a dress. THE Dress. When I say “we” I really mean him. He has been phenomenal and because he knows my body better than I know myself, I have had very little to do with this part. Kobus designed the dress to harmoniously work with the architecture and chose a style that he has never created before. I can thus say that there was more than one architect in this wedding. Well done Kobus for Pulling off the dress of the century.
No dress is perfect without the perfect accessories, for the best advice on diamonds and customer service that goes above and beyond, Diamond Works you are the absolute best in the business! From custom making my engagement and wedding rings to helping me pick the perfect diamonds, the experience was flawless just like the diamonds.
Julie from Julie Killias events hit the nail on the head with the minimalistic yet glamorous flowers and table decor. With a couple of big names under her event-planning belt, I was privileged to have her in my corner on the day. Everything ran flawlessly from start to finish. (apart from the part when we lost the rings for an hour)
Sound and lighting was done by TMN Entertainment based in close proximity. The outside tree was made up with chandeliers and fairy lights.
The style of the reception was informal and even though no cost was spared with the menu, I did opt for a more traditional menu and guests were encouraged to sit where they pleased instead of allocated table seating. We kept everything light, fun and cozy to give guests the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other. The night was really so much fun and we had the absolute best time with family and friends.
Wine was supplied by Deetlefs wine
Craft Beer was supplied by Diesel and Dust
The very popular Bubbly Bar was done by Pongracz
The gin cocktail bar was also a massive hit and a nice feature for any outdoorsy wedding by Gordons Gin
I also just have to add that an event is only as good as your DJ and for that I would HIGHLY recommend DJ Branny who kept the dance floor buzzing until late.
Let Them Have Cake
By far my best part of the evening was smashing the cake…..
