If you are an outdoorsy type of person that prefers training outside, you will understand how important it is to protect your eyes against sun, wind and the occasional (heaven forbid) bug every now and again. I for one, like to concentrate on my training and really don’t want to be distracted by watering eyes from wind and so on. Needless to say, just as your skin needs to be protected from UV rays, so too does your eyes. Today I am taking a look at the Shield sport frames from Adidas Eyewear.

The key performance areas that I really enjoyed was;

  • The rimless frame. This makes for lightweight eyewear that really fits like a glove.

  • Look. Stylish and sleek modern design nice colours to choose for both male and female This eyewear gives the overall impression of a cohesive entity. Available in two shapes – a262 a smaller sleek lens shape that tapers to a point meeting at the temples; a263 a fuller lens that is characterized by rectangular edges meeting at the temples

  • Discreet optical clip-in, called the Rimless Performance Insert™, was developed to provide optical correction to those requiring prescription lenses

  • Original colours are also a strong feature of this model being transparent, bright and eye catching – examples are neon yellow, a crisp blue and sassy orange.

  • I like the fact that is multi-sport compatible with a smooth wrap-around design which is quite practical

  • Other benefits with the new model ranges from technologies that include a new unique lens mould with a 9 base curvature. Lenses are made of shatterproof polycarbonate Vision Advantage™ PC lenses with 100% UV protection in optical quality

  • The LST™ golf tint proves particularly handy on the green as it provides an optimum contrasting effect on the green, making it an altogether more comfortable wear and performance enhancing to one’s game

  • The nose-bridge is made of soft silicone material to give a secure and snug fit; a Quick-Release Hinge™ system that releases temples on strong impacts avoiding irreparable damage to the eyewear; temples made of the flexible and break-resistant SPX™; the integrated Traction-Grip™ system on the temple ends that prevents slipping and ensures a pressure-free fit; and a mirror type glaze situated at the top part of the lenses – to provide added protection from strong UV rays that hit the wearer’s eyes from a higher angle.

Over all verdict, very practical and great looking, long lasting frames that you can use for many different out-door activities and training alike. I found it light weight and comfortable to wear on my run and living in Blouberg, (obviously very windy), it really gave me that extra protection I needed from wind and sand.
