In a consumer market controlled by marketing-guru’s and great advertising campaigns featuring slinky models prancing around with their diet soda in one hand and a hamburger in the other, nobody would blame you for thinking that there is the faintest possibility that this could actually be true,  I mean it looks real right?   Its hard to undress the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” and differentiate fact from fiction when most of the time we WANT to hear that all these delicious foods and drinks have zero calories and will make you lose weight.  The hard truth is, if something seems too good to be true it usually is and unfortunately with being in great shape, looking good and being healthy, bread buttered on both sides is a unlikely wishful thinking.  It does in fact take a lot of will power and dedicated balanced lifestyle re-enforcement to achieve those goals.
When it comes to diet fizzy drinks, The Daily Mail warns, that even though you may think you are getting a calorie free sweet treat, these drinks can still make you fat and presents a whole wad of health issues along with that.  The article mentions that during a study done over ten years consisting of 500 people shows that those who drank two or more diet fizzy drinks a day saw their waistlines increasing at five times the rate of those who didn’t.  The results were so dramatic that the American researchers advised that water is the best drink of choice.  Which I am sure we will all agree with but its still not the most delicious drink of choice, if that is not enough to convince you to switch drinks perhaps this will swing your vote.
The researchers from the above case study also said that they think the artificial sweeteners may distort appetite which can lead to increased cravings for unhealthy foods.  The lack of real nutrients in sugar also leaves us with extra cravings which increases the risk of over indulging.  Apart from the fact that you will probably gain some weight from having your fix of diet fizzies the real danger actually lies in the sweetner of choice for these fizzy friends namely Aspartame and the danger of this lies when your body starts to break this poison up into its components that resemble a word that we are all a bit scared of.
